The Nursing Assistant (Care Partner) assists with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This Nursing Assistant (Care Partner) role will work in the Surgical Stepdown Department. This is an optimal position for a nursing student c urrently enrolled in a program of professional registered nursing and successful completion of the first semester of nursing school to include clinical nursing fundamentals.

Department/Unit Summary:

• The Urology Surgery unit (9 South) is a 22 bed general acute care inpatient adult unit. Our unit specializes in the care of the post-operative surgical patient. We are the designated unit for Urologic Surgery patients but we also care for many other types of surgery patients including oncology-endocrine surgery, emergency general surgery, plastics, head & neck surgery, and others. Our focus is to provide patient centered care and to meet the needs of a diverse patient population which requires our nurses to be familiar with a wide range of treatments and types of care. 9 South is also equipped with low acuity vital signs monitors that allow surveillance monitoring for the post-operative patient population - it has capability for continuous pulse-oximetry, capnography, and respiratory rate monitoring. Working on the Urology unit provides an opportunity to care for a wide variety of patient populations in a professional and committed work group. It is a great place for professional and personal growth in the field of nursing, while also allowing our staff to develop critical thinking, prioritization, and time management skills.
