Chief Hematology-Oncology Section - Opportunity in Beautiful Washington D.C. The Washington D.C. VA Medical Center is seeking a full-time Chief of Hematology Oncology to lead our dynamic section servicing Veterans in the greater Washington D. C. area and supporting VISN 5. The position offers a great work-life balance with a manageable workload and opportunity to contribute to and grow the department within your field of expertise. The Chief of the Section will work with members of the health care team to ensure safe and timely delivery of care, including administration of appropriate treatments. The Section Chief will be responsible for creating an environment conducive to excellence in clinical care, in research, academic merit and overall well-being of section members. We provide in and outpatient care for Veterans with a variety of benign and malignant conditions, both acute and chronic, participate in clinical, translational and basic research, serve as a hub for training of fellows, residents and students, and work with other health care personnel to provide the best care for our patients. We host an Outpatient Infusion Unit and a dedicated Pharmacist to ensure efficient and safe delivery of biologics, chemotherapies, transfusions and other therapies as needed. Our clinics work closely with Palliative Care and have a dedicated Psychologist, as well as Advanced Practice Providers. We have academic affiliations through George Washington and Georgetown Universities, as well as the NIH. Opportunities for research are encouraged and we have a cadre of research coordinators to help with clinical and translational research, as well as the chance to work with research colleagues in a burgeoning and exciting new environment.
