PULMONARY / CRITICAL CARE PHYSICIANS
Opportunities throughout Northern & Central California
Critical Care – San Leandro/Fremont: Reduced schedule (60% schedule) with the option of doing more as we roll out TeleCritical care regionally across Northern California. Typically, this entails a week of ICU coverage (7 days) with a week off in between. Perform all your own procedures, including percutaneous tracheotomies, lines and taps, etc., and co-manage the surgical patients serving as primary for medical issues. Inpatient Pulmonary consults and procedures as indicated for the inpatient population. Pulm/CC preferred, but other critical tracks of anesthesia/ED/CC will be considered.
Intensivist - Sacramento: Seeking a BC/BE Intensivist to join our Sacramento Medical Center. The Cardiac Intensivist Program at Mercy General Hospital (MGH), Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) offers an exciting opportunity for an Intensivist with special interest in cardiovascular medicine. This is a unique opportunity to practice collaborative care between Kaiser Permanente and Mercy Health Systems in Northern California. The Intensivist will work in a consultant-manager role to care for Kaiser Permanente members admitted to CSICU at MGH, Sacramento. The scope of practice involves cardiac surgery and advanced/high risk cardiac interventions, including TAVR and Mitral clip procedures. In addition, ECMO services and advanced EP procedures are managed by a multidisciplinary TPMG team, and there is a collaborative effort from physicians, surgeon colleagues, allied health professionals and administrative staff. This position offers several work-life balance benefits to support you: weekend and holidays will be one intensivist covering 12 hours; no calls from ED and other hospital services; care for only Kaiser Permanente patients; and collegial support from providers for patients needing high level support or difficult procedures.
Pulmonary/Critical Care – Vacaville/Vallejo: Join 11 physicians with 8-10 ICU days, reasonable call and outpatient clinic. Roughly 50% ICU/hospital pulmonary consult and 50% outpatient pulmonary clinic. There are 2 physicians in ICU/hospital 7 days/week, 8am-6pm, and no in-house call. Also, there is no other hospital to cover. Live and work midway between San Francisco and Sacramento.
Pulmonary/Critical Care - Roseville: BC/BE. Prefer some experience.
Pulmonary/Critical Care - South Sacramento: In our ICU service, our medical intensivists manage medical patients and surgical subspecialty patients. Our hospital is a Level 2 Trauma Center with a dedicated surgical critical care group to manage Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. We perform elective and emergent PCI and place intra-aortic balloon pumps. No post-op CV surgery patients or ECMO at our location. Great collaboration with ICU RN, RT, PharmD, and other staff. There are 30 ICU beds and 130,000 emergency department registrations annually, and we average 8-10 hours a day with 8-10 patients in the ICU. We have an in-house presence from 7am–12 am, growing a remote monitoring program to 7 nights a week coverage 8pm–8am. We work about 1:4 weekends, depending on season. In our Pulmonary practice, case mix is approximately 60/40 ICU/Pulmonary, with separate inpatient and outpatient Pulmonology services. We are a Thoracic Surgery hub for KP NCAL, with an active thoracic oncology group and team meetings weekly, and we do EBUS. We also have regional multidisciplinary interstitial lung disease conferences twice monthly, with participation by Pulmonology, Thoracic Radiology, Pulmonary Pathology and Rheumatology. We are one of KP Northern California’s accredited Cystic Fibrosis Centers, with a dedicated multidisciplinary team. No interventional pulmonary or pulmonary hypertension practice (done elsewhere in KP).

About The Permanente Medical Group, Inc. (Kaiser Permanente Northern California)
Setting standards from the start
In 1948, seven physicians got together to create a new kind of medical group, one that focused on collaboration, put the patient at its core and provided a truly integrated health care delivery system. The result was a practice and approach that grew to become a gold standard in healthcare: The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG).
More than 60 years later and over 7,000 physicians strong, TPMG and its integrated health care delivery model continue to forge new territory in medicine. As the quality leader in our industry, we help over 3.2 million members throughout Northern and Central California live healthier, happier lives. And we do the same for our physicians.
As part of our team, you’ll enjoy comprehensive administrative support, cross-specialty collaboration, easy access to resources and more. You’ll also enjoy a balanced schedule, so you can make the most of your time here and at home.
