JOB TITLE: Critical Care Flight Medic LOCATION: Geisinger Medical Center Hospital DEPARTMENT: Emergency Medicine WORK SCHEDULE: Rotation WORK TYPE: Part Time
JOB SUMMARY: Provides Critical Care Transport Paramedic (CCTP) level of care, within the scope of Act 37, to Life Flight patients in conjunction with the Flight Nurse. The CCTP functions and assists as a non-essential team member in GHS Emergency Departments and assists Emergency department health care providers to deliver care to Emergency Department patients as needed. The CCTP meets the qualifications to provide care for patients from birth to 100+ years range.
The CCTP performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction and works under the supervision of the Life Flight Program Director, Chief Flight Nurse, Regional Supervisors, and the Life Flight Medical Director(s)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Completion of an approved paramedic program and current Pennsylvania state certification as an EMT-Paramedic
• BLS, ACLS, ITLS or approved equivalent trauma course and PALS Required. NRP, Hazardous Materials training or equivalent required within six months of employment. FP-C certification required.
STABLE certification preferred. • Knowledge of medical and legal aspects of emergency care including state limitations on the paramedic scope of practice required • Working Knowledge of electronic health record programs required • Knowledge of medical terminology, gross anatomy and physiology required • Principles of basic and advanced life support required • Minimum three years’ experience with an emergency advanced life support unit • Critical care transport experience preferred
All Life Flight employees that are directly involved in patient care or the direct transport of a patient are required to have successfully pass N-95 respirator fit testing as a condition of employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is performed in a clinical environment. Requires excellent physical, psychological and emotional health with no physical limitations working aboard an aircraft or a CCGT ground ambulance.
Crew members must be able to wear a program provided flight helmet with night vision goggles. Crew members do have the option to personally purchase an alternative program approved helmet that is compatible with Geisinger Life Flight’s night vision goggles
Employee cannot exceed 275lbs in weight in flight gear.
