The Central Virginia Veterans Affairs Health System in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a 4th Radiation Oncologist to join the department in 2020. Treatment hours are between 8 am and 430 pm, Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate is board certified or board eligible with an interest in clinical research and the treatment of prostate, lung, and head and neck malignancies within the context of a facility and system wide effort to develop the cancer program across all disciplines and disease sites. As a group, we offer 4DCT, 3D conformal, IMRT, intracranial SRS, and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for prostate, liver and lung cancer. We have developed an active clinical trials program and are rapidly expanding. Our site is a leading member of a consortium of more than 15 VA Radiation Oncology sites located throughout the VA system and committed to providing access to high quality clinical trials for veterans with cancer. There are several opportunities to participate in the design, development and execution of clinical and translational research trials and projects as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary and multi-site consortium.

Compensation is commensurate with education, training and experience. Compensation formula includes base salary and market rate. Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center:
The Radiation Oncology Department treats over 450 new patients per year. By August 2020 we will have completed the installation of a 2nd TrueBeam linear accelerator and upgraded our CT simulator. SRS is delivered with the BrainLab and ExacTrac system. The facility is affiliated with Virginia Commonwealth University with active resident participation at our site and joint morning conference participation. Attending physician call is shared with VCU and is roughly 4 weeks a year. We have 4 FTE physicists, 2 dosimetrists, 3 RNs, 7 RTTs, 1 Administrative Officer, 1 assistant and 2 medical support staff.
The Richmond VAMC is a 399 operating bed facility with over 3500 employees which of...fers primary, secondary, and tertiary diagnostic and therapeutic health services in medicine, surgery, rehabilitation medicine, intermediate care, acute and sustaining spinal cord injury, and palliative care. Construction of a new cancer center will begin in 2020. The facility features state-of-the art equipment with availability of PET/CT, multi-parametric MRI.
