The Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking to recruit a full-time academic radiation oncologist to join its practice. The qualified individual must be adept at treating all disease sites, with specialty focus on and experience with gynecologic and head & neck cancers.
The applicant will be expected to be active clinically, to supervise Medical Students and Medical Residents, and to engage in research. The incumbent will enjoy working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary clinical, research, and academic setting with colleagues in the Department and throughout the hospital.
The position is conceived to be based primarily at the MGH main campus, focused on working with partners within the Gynecologic and Head & Neck Radiation Oncology services. In the short term (approximately 2-3 years), the role also spends two days per week seeing radiation oncology cases at MGH’s practice at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
The Radiation Oncology Department, an integral part of the comprehensive Mass General Cancer Center, is equipped with Elekta and Varian linear accelerators with integrated imaging capabilities, a proton cyclotron with 3 treatment rooms (and a second center opening later this year), GE CT Simulators, and Raystation and Astroid Treatment Planning systems. The department, including our community-based locations, treats over 400 patients per day. The department is fully supported by a talented team of radiation therapists, dosimetrists, medical physicists, nurses, nurse practitioners, and administrative support staff.
Appointment as an Instructor or Assistant Professor at the Harvard Medical School will be commensurate with experience, training and achievements in addition to teaching activities. Suitable candidates must have an MD or an MD-PhD and Board Certification in Radiation Oncology. Required is also at least two years’ experience with gynecology brachytherapy as well as head and neck cases.
