The Atlanta VA Health Care System (VAHCS) in Decatur, GA is seeking a senior physician executive for its Chief of Staff (COS) opportunity.
You will report directly to the CEO/Medical Center Director (MCD) and act as the liaison between the MCD, Executive Leadership Team, Service Chiefs, Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN) office, VA Central Office, and others. You will provide organizational stewardship, leads change, and builds upon the strengths of clinical services by promoting the development of healthcare professionals through counseling, mentoring, teaching, and encouraging self-assessment.
Atlanta VAHCS is headquartered at 1670 Clairmont Road in Decatur and provides comprehensive primary care and mental health treatment as well as highly specialized treatments (e.g., open heart surgery and cancer therapies). The tertiary medical facility is classified as a Complexity Level 1A facility with 466 authorized inpatient beds including medical/surgical, Community Living Center (CLC) and Inpatient/Residential Mental Health and Residential Mental Health beds. Comprehensive health care services are provided through emergency medicine, primary care, tertiary care, and long-term care in the areas of medicine, surgery, mental health, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics, and extended care. Atlanta VAHCS's two CLCs serve metro Atlanta and the Carrollton submarkets with extended care rehabilitation, psycho-geriatric, and general long term care services. Mental Health services are provided in all Atlanta VAHCS clinical care sites. The facility also serves as a prosthetics treatment center, fabricating and supplying mechanical devices such as artificial limbs for patients within the states of Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama. Atlanta VAHCS, in affiliation with the Atlanta Center for Disease Control (CDC), is also one of only a few designated VA Hepatitis C Resource Centers (HCRC) in the country. Facility planning efforts continue to focus on expanding. We recently activated a new primary care clinic in Cobb County and we are in the process of activating 8 new Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) in Cobb, Newton, Pickens, Fulton and Dekalb Counties.

Monitors and ensures staff compliance with agency regulations, medical staff by-laws, rules and regulations, VA facility policies, Joint Commission standards and other appropriate regulations and creates an environment of system-oriented quality improvement
Ensures all Veterans receive high quality, efficient, timely, and appropriate care with the highest professional and ethical standards and quality of care
Ensures the highest level of performance by medical staff members through appropriate delineation of clinical privileges, ongoing performance evaluations, orientation, and use of continuous quality improvement practices
Completes performance evaluations of assigned service line managers and clinical service chiefs
Responsible for standard of medical care and professional integration of services across service lines
Responsible for driving a culture of improvement
