The Nurse Manager is responsible for providing daily operational management of patient care services to assure high levels of patient satisfaction while leading the coordination of nursing staff and clinical activities. Manage nursing administration through identification of nursing goals, policies, procedures, services and purpose. Evaluate nursing staff as necessary for optimum performance. Responsible for providing guidance in nursing performance improvement activities and integration of patient care services as well as having frequent interaction with clinical division, NYPC executive management, and leadership from hospital partners.
Supervise the provision of quality, cost-effective patient care in accordance with standards of practice of NYPC policies and procedures
Establish, implement and manage organizational nursing policies and procedures in relation to patient care, ensuring compliance with regulatory and/or federal guidelines as well as ACR accreditation standards
Develop and maintain an excellent level of patient centric care
Support professional growth in nursing staff through identification of learning needs and facilitation of learning opportunities
Ensure appropriate assessment of patients with acute and chronic problems related to cancer and cancer therapies according to evidence-based practice in adherence with organizational policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements
Oversee and coordinate with research coordinator for patient enrollment and compliance for clinical trials or protocols
Participate in all Quality Improvement projects by providing input as it pertains to nursing components for safe and efficient patient care
Ensure development and delivery of a comprehensive patient education process in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards
Oversee patient contrast administration and implementation by nursing staff.
Manage budget to include adequate nursing staffing, supplies, equipment and expenses related to the nursing department
Perform the following supervisory duties with regards to the nursing staff: Plan, organize, direct and evaluate nursing care. Build nursing staffing plan to fit start up and long-term organizational goals. Develop and maintain staffing schedules to ensure coverage during clinical hours. Conduct and/or arrange where necessary, training for nursing staff, on board new hires, prepare performance evaluations, initiate disciplinary actions, prepare any necessary in-service training for nursing, and clinical staff to meet regulatory requirements. Develop, implement and manage professional development model as it pertains to core competencies for nursing staff
Comply with all New York Proton Center policies related to Privacy Rules established under the Health Information Privacy and Portability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
Perform other job-related duties, as assigned
At least 5 years of professional nursing experience, with at least two years in a supervisory role in direct patient care as a lead coordinator or charge nurse required
Graduate of accredited School of Nursing
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required. Master’s Degree preferred
Current valid NY Registered Nurse License required
Certification in oncology, or specialty practice area preferred
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, experience with data management, and efficiency using electronic medical record systems. Oncology Information System, ARIA experience preferred
Experience overseeing diagnostic contrast administration and documentation, preferred
Ability to multi-task, manage multiple projects at one time, and rapidly change priorities based on patient and business needs
High integrity with respect to maintenance of confidential patient information
