Department/Unit Summary The Department of Pharmaceutical Services provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care services to Vanderbilt University Hospital (VUH), Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt (Children's Hospital), Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital (VPH) and The Vanderbilt Medical Group (VMG). This patient-centered service is provided through the Patient Care Center organization and clinic structure. For more information visit our website: http://www.mc.vanderbilt.edu/root/vumc.php?site=pharmacy Pediatric Pharmacy Specialty Residency (PGY2) The Pediatric Post-Graduate Year Two (PGY2) Pharmacy Residency at Monroe Carell Jr., Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is a 12 month, full-time, ASHP-accredited residency designed to build upon a PGY1 foundation of clinical knowledge. Through further experiences in patient-centered care, teaching and leadership, the resident will have the opportunity to enhance their skills and confidence in pediatric pharmaceutical care. This resident can anticipate focus on sharpening their clinical skills in pediatric pharmacy practice while working towards independence, in a particular area if desired, throughout the 12-month residency. After completion, the resident will be prepared for an opportunity to work as a clinical pharmacy specialist. The goals and objectives of this program follow those established by ASHP for PGY2 Pediatric residencies. PGY2 residents will be expected to complete a project suitable for submission for publication upon completion of their residency year. Required rotations include: PCCU (1 month), NICU (1 month), pediatric medicine (2 months) and oncology (1 month). Residents will also participate in a weekly ambulatory clinic and a longitudinal practice management experience. Elective rotations and other learning experiences, such as cardiology, GI, neurology, stem cell transplant, solid organ transplant and more, will be tailored to the resident's interests. Drug information, pharmacokinetics, informatics, medication safety and research will be emphasized throughout the residency. A teaching certificate program will be offered for interested residents. Special Requirements for Acceptance: Applicant must be a graduate of an accredited B.S. or Doctor of Pharmacy program and be licensed in the state of Tennessee by July 31. Completion of an ASHP-accredited residency in Pharmacy Practice is required. Grisso, PharmD, BCPPS, three letters of reference from Pharmacy faculty or supervisory pharmacists (PhORCAS form is fine but must have comments in 50% of the items) and official pharmacy school final transcripts. Final acceptance is dependent on required Vanderbilt University Medical Center online application and background check. Background screens will be performed and education will be verified prior to employment. Please be prepared to provide required information and/or documentation.
