Radiation oncology group is seeking a Radiation Oncologist for a hospital based practice in Bay City, Michigan. The position has an academic affiliation and is part of a multi-site, community-based practice with a private practice income track. The center is part of an NCI designated cancer network through the Karmanos Cancer Institute which also houses medical oncology, surgical oncology, and gynecologic oncology.
The department is equipped with the latest Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator, HDR brachytherapy after-loader, LDR brachytherapy, Aria record & verify, Eclipse treatment planning, SRS, SBRT, and 4D CT simulator. Through the academic affiliation, there is access to a significant portfolio of radiation specific clinical trials. There will also be affiliation with a nearby Proton Therapy center that recently opened with pencil beam scanning technology.
The radiation oncology group covers 6 community based cancer centers that are part of the Karmanos Cancer Network, which includes Flint, Lapeer, Owosso, Lansing, and Mt. Pleasant. All centers have ACR accreditation and meet the highest quality standards as measured by statewide quality consortiums. The EMR and TPS is standardized between all centers and managed on a single database. All centers are staffed with proper physics, dosimetry, nurses, radiation therapists, and support services.

About Michigan Radiation Oncology Consultants/Karmanos Cancer Institute
Karmanos Cancer Institute, Flint Michigan Radiation Oncology Department is a progressive, academically oriented group practice covering a state-of-the-art, NCI designated, hospital-based, integrated proton-photon practice. The practice has a well-established photon therapy program that utilizes Philips Simulator Equipment as well as 5 linacs, including TrueBeam, TomoTherapy, and Varian Gamma Med Plus to deliver state-of-the-art IG-IMRT, SRS, SBRT and brachytheraphy (LDR and HDR). An integrated Proton Therapy Center will be complete and is slated to open in 2016. The facility is equipped with a Proton Radiance 330 synchrotron with 250 MeV treatment and pencil beam scanning, 3 gantry rooms, and a ceiling mounted robotic cone-beam CT for image guidance. Eclipse treatment planning system and ARIA record and verification systems are used for both photons and protons. Support Staff includes 4 radiation oncologists, 5 proton experienced physicists, 4 photon physicists, 5 dosimetrists, 5 nurses, and 11 therapists. A hospitality house was recently constructed adjacent to the proton center for the ease of patients that reside outside of the area seeking treatment at our facility.
