Work where others vacation! Our well-established group is looking for an outgoing, dynamic full-time BC/BE Radiation Oncologist to join our collegial group of four physicians in July of 2019. This job is for a position at the Peninsula Radiation Oncology Center in Soldotna, Alaska. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient-centered care by embracing our core values of teamwork, integrity, quality and compassion. To ensure high-quality care and provide interaction amongst your peers, all cases are presented and reviewed via weekly electronic Chart Rounds with our other clinics in Alaska.
The Peninsula Radiation Oncology Center (PROC) is a beautiful center which was built in 2013 and is attached to the Central Peninsula Hospital (CPH). Our technological platform is an Elekta linear accelerator with the Agility 160 leaf collimator, ABC, IMRT, VMAT and a 2-year old Siemens CT simulator. Treatment planning is currently with Monaco but transitioning to Ray Station in the next few months. HDR brachytherapy is supported by our main Center at the Providence Alaska Medical Center. We utilize Mosaiq (PROC) and Epic (CPH) as our electronic medical record. We provide excellent physics/dosimetry support and nursing support in a family-type atmosphere.
Soldotna is a charming city located on the banks of the world-famous Kenai River in the Kenai Peninsula. In addition to world-class fishing, Soldotna offers plentiful outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, rafting, wildlife viewing, camping, sightseeing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and ice skating. Soldotna is also only a 20-minute flight to Anchorage, a city of 400,000 which provides many of the amenities of a major city.
A typical work day is from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00-4:00 p.m. and the number of patients under treatment generally ranges from 8-12. This is a wonderful job for someone who places a high premium on work/life balance, enjoys the feel of tight knit, small-town community and loves outdoor activities.
