Description
The Radiation Oncology Manager is responsible for implementing advanced system-wide clinical and operational initiatives in an ongoing approach to improve quality, safety, enhanced services, and fiscal responsibility for MyMichigan Health radiation oncology centers in Midland, Alma (Gratiot), Saginaw, West Branch, and Alpena. Responsible for developing departmental strategic objectives including short-term and long-term strategic planning, capital equipment planning and implementation of new technologies. Maintains effective staffing levels, development and training. Utilizes, creates and implements departmental policies and procedures to bring consistency to multiple departments. Prepares departmental budgets, and manages fiscal operations. Combined budgets are upwards of $28 million in net revenue and $12 million in expenses annually. Directly supervises the physics and Dosimetry teams, medical social worker, and the radiation supervisors in the radiation oncology departments. Reports directly to the Vice President Professional Services. Travel to all locations is required.
(30%)* Ensures the highest level of patient care and consistency through implementation of departmental policies and procedures, quality assurance programs, radiation safety procedures while maintaining all hospital and Joint Commission standards. Develops effective staff training/enrichment and facilitates continuing education opportunities for staff. Works to ensure standardization of processes across all radiation oncology sites for the MyMichigan Health System. Develops and communicates the process to all staff and physicians. Has complete administrative control over two databases for the radiation oncology electronic health record, troubleshoots all issues with the vendor, and performs all testing for the environment.
(20%)* Develops and manages scheduling of staff and departmental procedures for all radiation oncology sites. Acts as liaison between radiation oncologist and radiation oncology staff.
(20%)* Responsible for all human resource functions and activities in radiation oncology for all sites. Oversees routine human resource processes such as job postings, interviewing, status changes, payroll, maintenance of employee records, etc. Evaluates and conducts performance reviews on a timely basis. Counsels staff on work behavior and administers corrective/disciplinary actions consistently.
(20%)* Updates department charge-master as needed. Works with patient accounting and staff to ensure that the daily submission of charges are accomplished and are accurate with accompanying documentation. This is done in accordance with respect to hospital based and freestanding facilities according to the model of the radiation oncology departments. Works closely with office staff and referring physicians to assure prior authorizations are completed before radiation procedures are performed. Works to follow up on rejected charges and assists in documentation gathering for appeals.
(10%)* Completes the annual operating budget, capital forecasting/budgets, and monthly variance reporting for radiation sites as well as Medical Physics for MyMichigan Health for all radiation sites.
Requirements
BLS: Basic Life Support Within 1 month of hire or transfer
**ARRT RT: Reg Radiation Therapist Preferred
Bachelor's degree in radiation therapy (at the time of hire or transfer to position) and a Master's degree in business administration or health care administration within 3 years of hire or transfer to position required.
