Dignity Health/St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center is actively seeking an experienced Oncology Nurse Practitioner to join our team at The University of Arizona Cancer Center at Dignity Health/St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center (UACC/SJHMC), in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona.
This Advanced Practitioner assumes clinical responsibility for tasks performed within Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice and in collaboration with the physician preceptor. The Nurse Practitioner will be located in the Cancer Center and tasks may include—but are not limited to—obtaining a patient's history, performing physical examinations, performing and ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, establishing diagnoses, providing care, symptom management, prescribing treatment, and communicating with the patient’s oncologist, Nurse Navigator and/or primary care provider. The Nurse Practitioner will assist in the admission or transfer of patients to the Hospital from the Cancer Center; make appropriate referrals to specialists and community agencies, address urgent health issues for patients at the cancer center, participate in performance improvement programs, and work with the multidisciplinary disease site teams to develop plans for the patient and their family.
This position is critical to the success of the oncology service at the UACC/SJHMC and requires understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health.
