The Department of Radiation Oncology, University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, Seidman Cancer Center and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time academic faculty member, MD (+/- PhD), clinical/academic radiation oncologist, at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor (non-tenure track), with expertise and interest (including publication history) in breast cancer and/or CNS tumors.
Candidates must be ABR board-certified or board-eligible, and qualify for an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Ohio. He/she must demonstrate a significant commitment to the academic mission. The primary clinical responsibility will be in breast cancer and/or CNS, though some cross-coverage in one or more other disease specialties may be desirable. Responsibilities will also include teaching of medical students and radiation oncology residents, in addition to performing clinical and/or translational research.
The primary practice location will be Seidman Cancer Center (SCC) of University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center (UCHMC), including the main campus facility in University Circle in Cleveland. The SCC main campus includes three IMRT/IGRT linear accelerators with FSRT/SBRT capability, a gamma knife Perfexion radiosurgery unit, Mobetron IORT, and an Elekta Microselectron HDR unit. The campus just recently opened an on-site single-vault (Mevion) Proton Beam Center, the first proton center in Ohio. The department's level of RTOG/NRG clinical trials participation and excellence is among the highest in the nation, and there are also opportunities for investigator initiated clinical trials and translational science projects. The qualified applicant will have access to the outstanding core facilities and other resources and research time to promote academic success at the NCI-designated Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of only 45 such cancer centers in the nation.
