Cooper is a large tertiary care hospital in New Jersey seeking a board-certified HPM physician to lead the organization / fellowship in HPM. The position is in partnership with the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper and physician leadership from the university-based large cancer center.
In addition to clinical opportunities, the scope of the duties for the physician include leading and further developing curriculum for the fellowship in HPM through innovative curriculum and partnership with area hospice providers.
• Physician would be responsible for: • Planning, developing, and implementing new clinical and educational programs for the division and fellowship • Clinical duties covering inpatient palliative consults including pain and symptom evaluation, goals of care discussion, family communication, advanced care planning, etc. Outpatient opportunities also exist as an integral part of the multidisciplinary oncology team. • Ongoing professional development as well as research and scholarly activity • Hospital committee participation regarding the care and management of patients with severe illness. • Collaborate to facilitate care transitions for patients with severe illness in all clinical areas of the hospital including the emergency department, intensive care units, oncology units, medical and surgical units, trauma, etc. • Lead recruitment efforts in HPM graduate medical education.
