We have an outstanding opportunity for a new appointment for a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Thoracic Medical Oncology. The post will be based within the Division of Molecular and Clinical Cancer Sciences at The University of Manchester and will hold Honorary Consultant status at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, both of which are part of the prestigious Manchester Cancer Research Centre.
The post will have access to world class clinical facilities to conduct clinical trials research in The Christie and Manchester Cancer Research Centre clinical research environment. In addition, there are excellent opportunities for translational research in collaboration with local groups within The University of Manchester. Manchester is also the first designated Cancer Research UK Lung Cancer Centre of Excellence – awarded jointly to Manchester and University College London (UCL) in 2014.
You will be expected to develop and lead a programme of externally-funded research work and lead a programme of translational and/or clinical research in drug development for lung cancer within the Manchester Cancer Research Centre Lung Cancer Group and in close collaboration with the current team. You will develop and co-ordinate existing and emerging strengths to ensure that in Manchester the standards in lung cancer research and treatment are internationally leading. An interest in immune-oncology is desirable.
Working within the Manchester Cancer Research Centre, you will benefit from an intellectually stimulating and challenging environment with a strong legacy of ground-breaking discoveries and an ambitious vision for cancer research bridging the divide between basic science and clinical medicine. You will have expertise in translational and/or clinical research in the field of drug development for lung cancer (non-small cell) and proven experience in general and oncological medicine with the potential to be an internationally leading clinical researcher. Applicants should have a PhD, MRCP, or equivalent, and have obtained Certificate of Completion of Training (or be within six months of acquiring it).
